Courses are delivered over a 20 hour week and depending on which subject you choose will determine how many weeks you will be taught over the year. The minimum weeks per year is approximately 40 as the college will close for School holidays. You will have a maximum of 20 hours per week work rights on a Student Visa which will allow you to work, you are encouraged to work in your chosen field to collect 900 hours work experience over the two year period.

This course is payable in four installments, the first paid up front and then the next payment would be due in six months from the start of your course and every six months there after. Course start dates are usually January, March and July of each year.


 
Other costs to consider would be your two year health insurance which is payable up front to your course provider, for a single person the cost is approximately $650.00 and family cover costs start from approx. $1350.00 depending on how many people are included in the policy. The application fee to the Government to lodge your visa will be $430.00. Also, you will be required to have medical checks and X-rays performed as part of your visa requirements and these costs will vary slightly as they are performed by private institutions in your home country. Australian Graduate colleges are located in all cities and most regional centres in Australia.

Q: What is the age limit to study in Australia?

A: There is no age limit to make an application for a student visa to study in Australia.

Q: Can my family stay with me in Australia while I study?

A: Yes, usually your spouse and your children are included in your application.

Q: Can I work as well as study?

A: Most students are allowed to work part time 20 hours per week for the duration of the course and unlimited hours during holidays. Spouses are allowed to work 20 hours per week.

A: All children above the age of five must attend school - however, school fees apply.

A: At present, depending on the course you have successfully completed and relevant work experience, you may meet the requirements for a successful skills assesment. This contributes to meeting the criteria for a valid application.

Q: What if I don't fulfill the work requirements while I am studying for the two years?

A: As an added safety net the Australian Governement will allow students to apply for an 18 month visa when they have finished their course to finalize their work requirements so they can make a valid application for Permanent Residency. This Visa has open work rights.
